Samuel L. Thomsen, M.D.

Samuel L. Thomsen, M.D. is a board certified ophthalmologist who specializes in Cataracts, Laser Vision Correction and Glaucoma Management and Surgery.  In addition, he joined Sutton Linder & Sutton and performs LASIK and other refractive vision surgeries.  Dr. Thomsen is a native of the Beatrice area and graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University.  He received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center and is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha National Honor Society.  Dr. Thomsen completed his ophthalmology residency at the Mason Eye Institute at the University of Missouri.  He went on to specialize in glaucoma by completing a fellowship at the Dean McGee Eye Institute at the University of Oklahoma.

Dr. Sam Thomsen joined Eye Surgical Associates in August of 2020.  He is a member of the America Glaucoma Society, American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and Lancaster County Medical Society. Dr. Thomsen holds clinics in Lincoln, Beatrice, Fairbury, and Geneva all in Nebraska and in Seneca, Kansas. He has professional appointments at Lincoln Surgical Hospital, Nebraska Surgery Center, Bryan Health, and CHI Health St. Elizabeth in Lincoln, along with Beatrice Community Hospital in Beatrice, Jefferson County Hospital in Fairbury, Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, Nebraska and Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca, Kansas.

Dr. Thomsen and his wife, Gaby, have two sons, Ezra and Oliver. They enjoy spending time outside, traveling, reading, and spending time with family. Through their strong faith and involvement in their church, they have enjoyed connecting with the community of Lincoln. Dr. Thomsen also loves the challenge of endurance and has completed several full marathons, multiple half marathons and successfully climbed and summited Mt. Rainier. One of his dreams is to climb the ‘Seven Summits’.
