Dr. Matthew Wood is board-certified and specializes in diseases of the retina and vitreous. He received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine and completed an ophthalmology residency at the University of Virginia Health System. Dr Wood then specialized in retina and vitreous with a fellowship at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He is a third generation ophthalmologist, following his father, Larry, and grandfather, Maynard, in practice in Nebraska. Dr. Wood sees his patients in the Lincoln office.
Dr. Wood is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Nebraska Medical Association, Lancaster County Medical Society, the Nebraska Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons and the American Society of Retina Specialists. Dr. Wood serves as an examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Wood has been the principle investigator in multiple clinical trials investigating new treatments in Age Related Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy, Retinal Vascular Disease, and Uveitis and continues to conduct clinical research at Eye Surgical Associates.
Dr. Wood and his wife, Tracy, have three children. He enjoys cidermaking, cooking, skiing and spending time with his family.
